Ed Kania, Davidson's vice president for finance and administration, has been named as the chief financial officer at Rollins College. Kania has served as Davidson's chief financial officer since 2010 and in other business leadership positions starting in 1990.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for Ed to take on new challenges and to share his considerable gifts at another institution," said Davidson College President Carol Quillen. "While we cannot help but feel loss, I know I speak for all of us when I say we are also thrilled that Ed has this opportunity."
Kania, who starts at Rollins on July 1, oversaw a variety of critical operations at the college, from public safety to the endowment, during transformative moments in Davidson's history, including the creation of The Davidson Trust.
"There is no greater motivator than knowing that, every day, you are helping prepare extraordinarily talented young people from all backgrounds for lives of leadership and service," Kania said. "I am grateful for gaining a wealth of knowledge and a treasure of friendships at Davidson."
Kania will serve as vice president for business and finance and treasurer at Rollins, an institution that includes the College of Arts and Sciences and Crummer Graduate School of Business, as well as the Hamilton Holt School, which focuses on non-traditional students.
"With 26 years of management experience in higher education, we look forward to Edward's leadership, working collaboratively across campus, and advancing Rollins' mission and vision within the Winter Park community and beyond," said Rollins President Grant Cornwell.
